Dilators and Kegel Products

So you’re having problems with your vagina… we know that can happen.

Kegels

Some women experience a loosening in their vagina making sexual activity less pleasurable for them or their partners; and sometimes the loosening of vaginal muscles can allow urine to leak when they laugh, cough or run or when they are having sex.

You've probably heard of Kegel exercises. Named after Dr. Arnold Kegel who created them, Kegels are exercises that identify, strengthen and improve the tone of the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles are attached to the pelvic bone and act like a hammock, holding in your pelvic organs. Kegel exercises are healthful and helpful for your urological and sexual well-being.You can learn more about the anatomy of kegels and how it helps to keep them strong by reading more about Kegels

If you need help with your Kegel exercises, our Kegel CD can motivate you to find the time and place to do them.  See our Kegel Barbell also!  After all, women are skilled multitaskers...

Dilators

Some patients experience painful sex due to vaginismus or vulvydinia.  Vaginismus is a condition where involuntary muscle contractions cause pain during penetration, or prevent penetration altogether.  Vulvydinia describes pain in and around the vulva.  When these conditions get in the way of pleasurable and enjoyable sex, a woman and her partner both suffer the consequences.

Of course you should always go to your OB/GYN to explore any gynecological issues first. If you get clearance from your doctor then a good way to try to overcome the pain is to use dilators to gently stretch the vaginal cavity. We offer 2 different sets here and you can use them to treat mild vaginismus or vulvydinia.

We should disclose that, in our experience, most women who come to us with severe cases of vaginismus have not had great success using dilators on their own without additional treatment solutions from a practitioner. That said it is a good place to start; but don't give up if it becomes too painful or upsetting to treat pain on your own. See a practitioner who can help. Learn more about dilators
